Europe 2007 Part 19 Rivera to Como

It is now evening and I make my way to the Italian border at Chiasso – Como. My channel on you tube : www.youtube.com is one of the most prolific from Poland, although unfortunately not the most visited. With almost one film per day, one may be forgiven for thinking I do nothing else but I do have a day job as well. I have produced more than 400 original films, most in English but also in Polish, French, Italian, Spanish and the occassional hint of German and Hebrew. My big interest in life is travel and history but I have also placed films on other subjects Please feel free to ask questions in the public area or to comment on things you disagree with. Sometimes there are mistakes because I speak without preparation. If I see the mistakes myself, I make this clear in the text. Please also leave a star rating! There are a number of films here on the packaging industry. This is because I am the publisher of Central and Eastern European Packaging — www.ceepackaging.com – the international platform for the packaging industry in this region focussing on the latest innovations, trends, design, branding, legislation and environmental issues with in-depth profiles of major industry achievers. Most people may think packaging pretty boring but it possibly effects your life more than you really imagine! Central and Eastern European Packaging examines the packaging industry throughout this region, but in particular in the largest regional economies which are Russia, Germany, Poland

@alanheath – Some ideas: 1. Bankruptcy auctions. Usually, they are published in newspapers. 2. Military hardware sales or auctions–in Germany and Switzerland, for ex. They should sell vehicles at times. 3. Because of the bad economy, prices of used campers should decrease. You might find a good bargain for a real, albeit used, camper. Before settling for a hearse… I would check these ;-P

@skazhiprivet Good one!!! I am thinking of buying an ambulance if I can find one as they come prepared without an expensive conversion to a camper van.

@alanheath – I am surprised that no company has made a suitable camera and mounting device. I even saw one camera that can be mounted on a helmet, for mountainbiking, etc. Ah! Or you can buy a used police car next time! :-D They have a dashboard camera fitted in already! ;-)

@skazhiprivet I tried this but it did not work. Two problems – the camera angle means that you are getting more of the inside of the car than the outside (you cannot use the zoom remember because you are driving). Second thing is that it is too far to hit the record button. Whatever you do has to be safe! No more dangerous than using your car radio!

@alanheath – Ah… yes, it doesn´t sound ideal! :) The sun could also be a problem if the camera is on the dashboard. Maybe, the camera could be strapped onto the bars that hold the headrest in the passenger seat. Someone I met travelling had some sort of straps with velcro that could hold the camera. Anyway, congratulations for the channel! You have taken many interesting trips. Regards

@skazhiprivet Yes, nearly always. I have a mount for the camera in the car but sometimes it bangs against the windscreen or if I hit a pothole then it jumps!

  7. skazhiprivet says:

But… you do the driving and filming yourself, at the same time?
There should be some way to mount the camera on the dashboard or something.
The line at customs at Chiasso is not so unusual. Lots of police and stuff… I never found it very welcoming, actually.

For those that like to complain about the poor quality of my films this is your chance to have some input.
My Sony Cybershot – used for all films here but one – has given up on me. I do not want to buy a video camera – just a compact camera which I can carry around in my pocket.
What camera should I buy and why?
